Donna's first response to working on the sale of my cabin was : "Oh, great, that will be fun! It's so beautiful up there." That was how our working relationship began.
I have nothing but praise for her hard work, her enthusiastic approach, her honesty. She is good at communicating complex information comprehensively.
She let the interested parties take their time, taking them up the dirt road more than once.
Both myself and the buyer had innumerable questions; each question was patiently researched and answered. She even put together a wine and cheese party for a group of people who wanted to experience what it was "really" like up there. She seemed to remember everything...and remained positive even when the closing date had to be changed because of all the snow.

Where to begin? During our search for property in San Miguel County, I had the pleasure of working with a half a dozen agents in the area. Without exception they were helpful, knowledgeable, and experienced real estate professionals.
But I have to brag about Donna Burd Fernald. I can’t say enough good things about her. I had the pleasure of working closely with Donna during the purchase of a small mountain cabin in San Miguel County. This would not have been possible for a flatlander such as myself without Donna’s knowledge and dedication (and frankly, her patience). I’ll spare you the play-by-play. Suffice it to say that this transaction involved a property above 11,000 ft., a seller that resides in Europe, and buyers from Texas (I’m a lawyer - so you can imagine how “fun” this must have been for Donna).
As you might know, this past season the San Juan Mountains were blessed with record breaking snowfall. As a result, we knew we would have to delay closing until the snow melted in order to complete the necessary inspections, appraisals, and surveys. On the bright side, Donna had the pleasure of dealing with your’s truly for the better part of 9 months. Of course, I would not go quietly into the night, and the snow would not quit (and as I write this – still has not quit). But neither would Donna. I don’t know exactly how, but one mountain guide, two engineers, and three snowmobiles later, we got all the due diligence done by the middle of May (and with some 6 feet of snow on the ground) and we closed!
From day one Donna’s abilities were apparent. She is undeniably a world-class real estate professional and a delightful human being to boot. As a former credit officer and practicing attorney, I have been involved in hundreds (if not thousands) of real estate transaction. As a result, I have come to know many real estate agents and brokers (some on better terms than others). Even with my experience with Texas real estate (or perhaps because of it), I knew that I needed to work with a local agent attuned to the nuances of real estate transactions in Colorado, and with knowledge about the local market.
Donna made our transaction a wonderful experience all around - a perfectly managed and executed affair. I learned a lot from Donna, and thoroughly enjoyed working with her. Without hesitation or reservation, I would refer anyone to Donna if they are in need of a real estate professional for any reason. She and her team are a delight to work with.
